We have had many great trips to South America. Click on the following links to see pictures and learn more about the communities we are helping in Peru and Colombia.
Our first trip was in January 2008. This trip inspired us to found Sense the World!
In December 2008 we provided gifts for Christmas to small Andean Communities.
Our first volunteer traveler went to Peru in February, 2009. She traveled farther into the Andes than we had previously reached.
Bevin was our next volunteer traveler who made a big impact in the Sacred Valley during a short trip to Cuzco.
In October 2010, we went on our first trip to Colombia!

- In the highlands of Peru, there is approximately 1 doctor for every 12,000 citizens.
- 41% of the population of Peru lives below the poverty line. The percentage is even higher in some South American countries.
- About 46% of Colombians lived below the poverty line and some 17% in "extreme poverty", living on less than $2 a day.
- Public spending on education as a proportion of GDP in 2006 was 4.7% — one of the highest rates in Latin America
